Happy 2002 everybody!!!

I am afraid there is no local weather report or up-date on our garden as unfortunately I had to leave the damp and dismal UK for the New Year to spend time in the West Indies. Poor me! We managed to fit in a manic family Christmas first with a full house of children – children? - the youngest is over six foot two!!! Anyway, all the better for helping with the cooking.

As you may have guessed we are a family of gourmets so Christmas gave everyone a chance to show off their gastronomic flair to a captive audience. Alessandro won hands down again with his Calabrian Boxing Day Special. By the time we caught our flight to the Caribbean even the table was groaning with the weight of all the food. While Grace and Amie’s culinary approach was respectively spontaneous and refined and Jack’s minimal, Nouska’s had a certain je ne sais quoi (she was glazing her tiles between courses)and Toby did some spectacular pile-ups on his plate that would have done justice to any lorry driver in a transport café layby. But that’s another story...

  • Thanks for all your good wishes and your congratulations on the Castle/Sanctuary win. As Nicola suggests – “Big up yourself, Sandie”. We did it together so you can all big yourselves up too.

  • The winners of last month’s competition are – Allan Crabb, Stephen Wright, Dougie Murray, Richard Harvey and Jason Lange. Your CD’s are in the post.

  • A draft discography is now up, thanks to Grace. This is work in progress so please let me know any mistakes or if anything has been left out. Maybe you even have a cover that we are missing.

  • This month’s e.award goes to Glove Puppet, Terry Watson who pleads for a photo of me in gloves! I am sure I can find you something suitable for next month’s (February) Newsletter, Terry – just calm down and stay cool until then. I might even do a special Hand in Glove section in the picture gallery later in the year.

  • Ten Questions: As so many of you responded to December’s CD competition, here is a more difficult one. A signed CD and book, “The World At My Feet” for the first 10 people to answer all questions correctly:

    1. Where was I born?
    2. What was my name?
    3. What was the family dog called?
    4. What school did I go to?
    5. How old was I when I was “discovered”?
    6. Who “discovered” me?
    7. Who was the local boy who wrote my songs?
    8. Who wrote my first No1 record?
    9. Name two other female singers they wrote for?
    10. In order of preference, do I like wearing a) earrings b) trousers c) gloves d) shoes.

  • Ten Answers: Have you ever fancied yourself as an interviewer, news reporter, maybe there some information you have always wanted to have or maybe you are just curious to know more? In next month’s Newsletter I will answer any questions you dare to ask and I dare to answer. So think carefully before you send that email. Let’s have some fun! Or maybe you want to be serious? See you in February.

  • Meanwhile here is a pic of me on our land in the Caribbean. Stay chilled.
