I was invited to be a newsreader and presenter fot Central ITV news. On Friday May 6th, 2006, I did the 1 o'clock and 6 o'clock news. This has been a long-term secret ambition of mine.

I was mentored by veteran news presenter Wesley Smith who was really generous with his advice and encouragement. We had a hilarious time together as Wesley tried to teach me how to use the autocue and self operated foot prompter.

He instructed me, "Every time you open your mouth you put your foot on it!" Huh? The only way I could keep my pace in time with the script was to do it au pieds nus. This way I had perfect mouth to feet co-ordination....
